Kevin Costner Provides the Technology to Help BP: V20 » Tech Jackal

The devastation felt in the Gulf is being heard by everyone around the world. There are constantly people extending their sympathies to those who lost their lives due to the oil spill, as well as though people who have hard roads ahead due to the inability to work and lack of tourism in the Gulf.

Kevin Costner has made a step in helping to clear the devastation and bring back some stability to the Gulf through his innovative device called the V20. These were developed with the use of Costner’s own money and through his company, Costner Industries with the help of Ocean Therapy Solutions. The idea came to Costner after the oil spill in 1989 due to the Exxon Valdez.

The V20’s will have the ability to separate the oil from the water. The machines that will be used by BP is estimated to be able to handle up to 210,000 gallons per day. Once the oil invested water has been ran through these machines, the water will be up to 99% cleaner.

BP representatives are excited to begin using the machines and feel very optimistic that they will produce desired results. For the next 60 days, BP will have use of 32 V20 units. The time period may be changed if longer time is needed and the machines work as promised. Though the machines will not be able to reverse the damage already done, the hope is that more damage can be kept from occurring and the oil from reaching the beaches.
